♦Expressive Throwing with Ruthanne Tudball

You won’t want to miss this advanced one-day throwing workshop with ceramic artist Ruthanne Tudball, the author of the book “Soda Glazing.”  Ruthanne, who lives in Norfolk, UK, has shared her intuitive approach to clay with potters around the world.

Ruthanne’s process calls for capturing the softness of clay in her finished pieces. Her focus on the fluid movement of her pottery, as well as detail – the lip, spout, handle, foot – are inspired by the natural world and the creative forces of the earth and human body.

At Full-Circle Pottery she will encouraging participants to explore their own creativity by reflecting on their inspirations for making pottery.  “I manipulate clay wet on the wheel and assemble pieces just thrown and still on the wheel,” she says.  “What I do at hands-on workshops involves cutting, changing and assembling work as it is made – fun exercises that will encourage exploration and innovation.”

This will be an advanced throwing workshop.  Participants should be comfortable centering, lifting and shaping four pounds of clay on the potter's wheel.
