Our four-week adult “Intro 4“ class is designed for beginners with no experience throwing on the pottery wheel, and those who have been away from the wheel and need a refresher. Participants work on basic pottery skills: how to prepare clay for the wheel, and the steps for creating (“throwing”), finishing (“trimming”) and glazing cylinders, bowls and cups. This class can be taken more than once. Class size is limited to seven participants. Length of class is 3 hours.
Price ($210) includes instruction, clay, firings, and glaze. It also includes a basic set of pottery tools.

COVID Update: the studio will refund students if scheduled classes that haven’t started have been cancelled due to the outbreak. Missed Class Policy: We will be working with wet clay during the first two weeks of class, then carefully drying it to the right texture for trimming in week three. BECAUSE OF THIS WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER MAKE UP CLASSES FOR THE FIRST THREE WEEKS. You are able to reschedule the fourth class (glazing) to a glazing session in a future “Intro 4” or “Step Up To Studio” class.

Full-Circle Pottery members, as well as participants who have taken at least two beginning pottery wheel class at Full-Circle or elsewhere, can continue practicing basic skills with our Step Up To Studio classes. Participants should know the basics of centering, opening, lifting and shaping before taking this class. Each session will focus on a form, and an additional skill or decoration technique. Class can be taken more than once. Class size is limited to eight participants. Length of class varies.
Saturdays May 6, 13 and 20 from 2-4 p.m. we are offering a “Not Round At All” Step-Up Class. Love the wheel but tired of making round things? Learn how to make new and exciting shapes in this three-week class. We’ll make a bunch of cylinders on the potters wheel in week 1, trim and shape them in week 2, and finish up with glazing in week 3. Price is $160 non-members/$100 members. Registration for members is in person at the studio.

This April Full-Circle Pottery hosts ceramic artist Eric Kao for a special four-session class focused on his students’ creativity and the cylinder.
Eric will focus on intentionality by sharing specific clay forming techniques according to the goals and experience of each student. Students are expected to have a strong understanding of their personal goals while keeping an open mind for exploration.
Eric has an MFA from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, was a resident instructor at the Idyllwild Arts Summer program from 1998-2009, and spent six years as director of the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China. Hec opened his studio in Signal Hill, CA during COVID.
Eric’s conceptual work has combined figurative and traditional vessel forms to frame pottery in unexpected ways, explore cultural traditions, and record his experiences of destinations.
This class is intended for intermediate/advanced potters who are seeking practical guidance for their craft and creative inspiration for their art.
Space is limited! Members should register at the studio to received a discount.
Learn how to throw a pot on the wheel. Because these two-hour classes are small (2 max), you will get lots of attention from our patient instructor. Each participant can select one of the pieces they throw to be glazed and fired. Note: Some clean up is required!
Price is $96 per person. Important: we need at least two participants for a class to be a go, so sign up a friend or your beloved to enjoy this muddy experience. Our semi-privates make a great after breakfast or before brunch date!

Our three-week adult “Beginning Hand Building“ class is designed for beginners with no experience building with clay. Participants will practice basic skills including pinch pots, coils and slabs. Each of the first two weeks the instructor will encourage participants to undertake a personal project. The third week is reserved for glazing. This class can be taken more than once. Class size is limited to eight participants, and we need four participants to make it a go. Length of class is 2.5 hours.
